“The porn companies created the content for an audience they didn't even know they had.”
This was actually the crux of the piece. This is the takeaway message of it all. It seems that throughout the eighties and nineties, there was a disconnect between what consumers wanted and what companies were giving us. That was eventually corrected as the internet became a more powerful tool for acquiring pornography. It’s no accident that this happened around the 2000s.
While the piece was focused on age, it also happened with things like ethnicity and even transitions from Eurocentric fantasy-themed porn to stuff like Anime-themed porn.
“Even with that said, it is silly to think that men are entering specific age numbers into a search.”
At least until 2012, it was the number one type of search conducted, as stated above, so no, it’s not silly. No other term could compete with age-specific numbers, as mentioned.
“Find the numbers on the first word being "teen" and then a desire (anal, lesbian, cheerleader, etc) compared top the first word being "milf" or "grandma" and you will get a much, much better picture of what age range men want.”
This doesn’t explain why not a single youth-related category makes it into PornHub’s top searches, while MILF and Stepmom both do. Seeing as they didn't even register in the top searches, there's no point in comparing the two.
My take is this: whatever consenting adults do is their own business. Like whatever you like. But where I have an issue is when we're given a very narrow set of parameters to work with and then we're told that's the absolute norm. Personally, I'm just a researcher, I don't even watch pornography, I just find this all very fascinating, but still, honesty counts for something, I think.
Thanks for reading. Sincerely.
I suggest giving it another read just in case you didn’t take in all the data the first time because all of these objections have already been covered.
I truly appreciate your feedback.
